The palace murders have brought to the fore the extreme
rigidity of traditional modes of thinking. If there is a
lesson to be learnt from this tragedy, it is that the
foundations of family life need to be reinforced and the
complexity of relationships among the members and their rights
and duties should be better understood. It’s a paradoxical
situation: an individual’s right to choose a life partner as
opposed to the tradition of arranged marriages.
